Today, Wednesday, Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, President of Aswan University, and Dr. Hazem Abdallah El-Gamal, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun and International Cooperation Officer at Aswan University, will receive the Spanish Ambassador to Egypt Ramon Gil Casares and his accompanying delegation at the University Campus in Sahara.
In order to attend the celebration of the Spanish Department of the Faculty of Al-Alsun under the title “Spain Day” at the university, with the participation of the faculty members and their assistants and the students of the Spanish Department, which included a screening of a film about Aswan University and the Spanish Department of the Faculty of Al-Alsun and the most important student cultural activities that express the depth of cooperation between the two sides.
Prof. Ayman Othman, President of Aswan University, welcomed the Spanish ambassador and the accompanying delegation during his speech in which he spoke about the good relations between Aswan University and the Spanish Embassy and the scientific, research and student protocols signed between Aswan University and Spanish universities such as the University of Salamanca and the University of Jaen and others, which contribute to upgrading the educational system Department of Spanish Language, Aswan University, which was established in 2012.
It teaches the Spanish language and culture to hundreds of students each year.
Prof. Ayman Othman added that within the framework of the fruitful and constructive cooperation between the two parties in various fields of energy, archeology and language, including the work of the Spanish mission, which began in 2008, to study and excavate the archaeological site QH33 in the Qubbat al-Hawa area opposite the new city of Aswan.
During the different excavations seasons of that expedition, about 60 tombs carved in the rock of the plateau were discovered, some of which had not been researched before. This exhibition is until 2023 at the Nubia Museum in Aswan.
The Spanish Ambassador, Ramon Gil Casares, indicated that Aswan University represents a scientific and cultural beacon, and that the embassy pays great attention to the Spanish Language Department, Faculty of Al-Alsun, Aswan University. Aswan is an Egyptian city with a huge attraction that I will always love to come back to. We are always working to strengthen the cultural ties that unite us in this beautiful region of Egypt, which is represented in the teaching of Spanish culture and language at the university on the one hand, and cooperation in the field of Spanish-Egyptian archaeological research and excavation on the other hand, thanks to the Dome of El-Hawa archaeological mission of the Spanish University of Jaén .
The Spanish ambassador thanked the President of Aswan University and the Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun Ali Hassan for the reception, stressing that the Spanish language is spoken by 600 million people and spoken by 3 continents worldwide, and there is continuous cooperation between the two countries, Egypt and Spain. Dr. Hazem El-Gamal, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun and responsible for international cooperation at Aswan University, explained that the celebration of the Spanish Language Day is a tradition every year and comes within the framework of close cooperation between the two sides, and the cooperation also translates into obtaining scientific and research grants through research projects between Aswan University and Spanish universities.
And to provide all aspects of support to the Department of Spanish Language, Faculty of Al-Alsun, Aswan University, and that the Spanish Embassy provides all support to the department’s students in order to improve the educational system, especially learning Spanish as a foreign language. And work to support students and motivate them in learning the Spanish language and knowledge of its literature.
The event concluded with the presentation of musical and artistic theatrical performances for students of the Spanish Language Department, Faculty of Alsun and students of the Faculty of Specific Education, led by Dr. Mohammed Rashid, which was well received and praised by the Spanish ambassador and the audience.
The students also took memorial photos with the Spanish ambassador and the President of Aswan University, and the two sides exchanged shields of honor.
