In light of Egypt’s 2030 vision, Egypt is rapidly shifting towards a knowledge-based digital economy that encourages innovation, research and development. As a major part of this vision, the new administrative capital is being built to be the first smart city in Egypt, believing in the role of higher education and scientific research in supporting this transformation and in this regard In the context of preparations to launch the first Egyptian hackathon at the state level on the topic of smart cities in cooperation with Benha University and Amazon International, through which teams of students from Egyptian public and private universities will race to find innovative solutions in the following areas:
Smart buildings _ smart facilities _ smart gardens _ transportation / smart traffic _ smart hospitals _ smart recycling _ smart monitoring _ smart energy _ smart management _ smart schools/universities.

Participating teams will be qualified through webinars presented by Amazon experts for a period of one week
Practical training will also be provided to qualified teams in innovation centers and Internet labs spread across Egyptian universities.
The qualified teams will be hosted for a period of 3 days at Benha University and provide the necessary support, direction and guidance for them to build and develop prototypes of their innovations, provided that the final arbitration will be done by specialized experts, and the results will be announced and the prizes will be handed over to Benha University on the third day.
The winner will receive financial prizes totaling 100,000 Egyptian pounds provided by Benha University in addition to valuable prizes provided by Amazon. The winners will also have a great opportunity to market their innovations to the new Egyptian private universities.
