As a part of promoting the cultural relationships between Egypt and Korea, the Korean embassy organized the Korean Cultural Day in the faculty of Al Alsun for the third consecutive year. The event was attended by the Korean ambassador to Egypt Yoon Yeocheol, Aswan university president Prof. Ahmed Ghallab, Aswan vice Governor Maj. Gen. Saieed Hegzy, the director of the Korean Cultural Centre in Cairo, Yang Sang Keun, the university vice president for graduate studies and research Prof. Ayman Othman, a range of the faculties’ deans and academic staff as well as students.
In the same context, Prof. Ghallab said that the Korean language department was launched in Aswan University 3 years ago; it includes a group of outstanding students. Aswan University is keen on hosting the Korean Cultural Day regularly for enhancing the relationships between the two countries. He added that the Day included several artistic activities like traditional Korean drumming, providing some Korean popular food to the attendees in addition to a photo gallery and Korean traditional instruments’ exhibition. He continued that the Korean language department has some Korean volunteers instructors a matter that had a positive effect on our students in having the commands of the Korean language. For his part, Mr. Yoon Yeocheol expressed his utmost admiration for the academic level of the Korean language students. He added that the language is a vital connection between nations so the Korean department will lead an indispensable role in boosting the relations between Egypt and Korea.
The dean of the faculty of Alsun Prof. Naser Abd Al Razeq said that the cultural days organized by the university are in line with the academic programs as they help in formulating the student’s character and improving his skills in translation. He added that the Korean language in Aswan University is the second department after his counterpart in Ain Shams University at the level of the Egyptian universities.
