Aswan University Council No. (103) convened under the chairmanship of Prof.Ahmed Ghallab Mohamed – President of Aswan University, in the presence of Prof. Ayman Othman-Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Magdy Mohamed Ali-Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and in the presence of the President’s Adviser University and Deans of Faculties.
Prof. Ahmed Ghallab Mohammad – University President, welcomed the attendees and members of the Council and stressed the implementation of all precautionary measures to confront the new Coronavirus in the various committees of the university’s faculties.
This comes as part of the university’s plan in preparation for the launch of the marathon for the first semester exams, scheduled starting next Saturday (February 27, 2021).
In accordance with the regulations and directives of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Supreme Council of Universities, in accordance with the examination schedules announced in the various faculties.
He also added that we are working to observe the standards of justice and compassion in order to facilitate the university students and work to implement the plan of Aswan University to ensure the smooth functioning of the work of the first semester exams by providing well-ventilated halls for the examination committees and taking into account the social spacing of one and a half meters between each student, with wearing medical masks and measuring the temperature of students in various colleges and with the application of all precautionary measures in light of facing the emerging coronavirus, in the interest of the safety of students, the academic staff, their assistants, and all employees at Aswan University, and working to harness all the university’s capabilities to run the exams, through the success of the first semester exams in light of the exceptional circumstances the country is going through.
The council reviewed the most important construction projects at the university that are going in full swing in the university campus in Sahari and the campus in New Aswan, as well as all medical facilities in university hospitals and specialized medical centers at the university in New Aswan, which are being implemented and will represent a qualitative transfer to the medical and health system in southern Upper Egypt, including what has been opened. Recently, the central care unit, which includes (10) beds to serve patients in Aswan, and addition of (300) beds at the University Hospital in Aswan, by adding many operating rooms, intensive care, and other medical services, which (85%) of the project to establish the Al Batinah Hospital has been implemented.
Al-Batinah Hospital consists of (5) floors and includes (150) beds distributed in general and private internal medicine departments, brain, nerves, heart, tumors, thoracic, dermatological, and physiotherapy. Also, work is underway on a project to establish a reception and emergency hospital, which consists of (4) floors and will include another (150) beds in the departments of surgical operations, trauma emergency, intensive care, radiology, and laboratories.
As well as working to complete the current expansion projects, which are the equipment of the central restaurant, dining halls, sterilization rooms, central laundries, and housing for doctors in the outpatient building, and the development of orthopedic, internal, and urology departments.
Where the Council approved the appointment of a number of academic staff and their assistants in the functions of lectures and assistant lectures and granting of academic degrees.
